Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ 4th previz draft

This is the fourth version of my previz. This one has no sound but is a bit more slower.

class exercise: uving

Image
In  Today in class we did uving from sketchfab models. It was challenging at first uving a piece I did not create, but through the lesson I got the hang of it using side view, camera based uv, clean up and cutting like origami or a gift basket.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ 3rd previz draft

This version had no sound, but I did play around with transition effects more.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ TITLE EXPLANATION

Image
This is made just to make things super clear in the mood change as the story progresses.

Justin tutorial: grey landscape astronaut color pallet with design

Image
For scale comparison, I put an astronaut searching the rocks, so this world is large-scale instead of being assumed as micro.  This is the alien colour pallet I'm going for. Though they may seem natural, the way they will be applied will not be. This is the design where I added a bit of shading for the sky, so it does not look flat.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ 2nd previz draft

This is the second version of my story with the scenes slower, I see it really well.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ individual scenes divided

Working on the scenes individually made them slow-paced so their impacts could be felt. I will edit these tomorrow into a set for my second draft.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ speaker scenes

Image
These are the scenes involving the speakers. The boy is playing loud music in the first scene and turns it off in the second which is why the disc is not booming.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ speaker model

Image
I want to include a scene where the parents yell at him, and he becomes ignorant and plays loud rock music while staying in his room, so I modelled a speaker.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ ending scene with cartoon filter

I applied the cartoon filter from Clipchamp and liked its style.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ smoky title

While editing, I found this filter, and it looked really impressive.

1st 2nd 3rd The eyepoppingg out was quite grotesque, so I edited it out.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ version 1 previz

This is the first version of my previz, I may deviate a bit from my storyboard, but overall the jey scenes are shown like the girl hesitating to pick up the toy, which is the most important part of the story. In my next version I may think about sound and some additional scenes.

Justin tutorial: landscape concept art lesson

Image
We learned to make a landscape from black and white. We are going to pick a color pallet to fit our art works.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ version 1 previz editing complete

Image
I put all the files in, and it matched the times of my animatic, except this time, I did it all in the same file instead of separately like my animatic, so I will complete the sections individually like my animatic.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ version 1 previz editing and little girl excited at toy updated

Image
I started editing all my files in Premier Pro.  old (4fps)  new (18 and 24fps)  I wanted to make the camera static, as in editing, it was jarring.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ timing and pacing

When it comes to my previz I want to focus on my timing and pacing so that the scenes breath enough to have the intended impact.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ boy give toy to little girl

Image
This is the scene where the boy hands over the purple gauntlet figure. Again, there is purple lighting to foreshadow the exaggeration of the next stage (which, in this case, is the previous post).

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ little girl excited at toy

Image
This is the purple gauntlet poster. I will use it in the background for the little girl being excited as she gets handed the rare toy of the character.   The little girl can't contain her excitement, so the camera traces her exuded energy.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ boy smiles at his new bedroom

Image
By constantly looking at my animatic, I know in advance which animations can be reused, and this was one of them, but a closer camera angle makes it more about the boy.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ little girl makes boy smile

Image
It was essential to have both characters in the scene as their roles have been revealed at this point, the boy is stubborn but opens up, and the girl is always friendly.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ boy is a problem

Image
I used lighting studies to make this scene as menacing as possible, as if the boy is a villain.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ sad look to parents

Image
Some scenes just make sense as a still image, like this one where the boy is sadly looking up at the mum because the lift is broken.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ little girl gently pick up purple gauntlet toy

Image
For the rotoscoping here, I made sure to add hesitancy in my acting, because she does not know the boy and would 'like' to help him out, but does not need to.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ little girl more subtle expressions

Image
As the little girl is kinder and more cheerful than the boy, her expressions should be slightly limited to maintain her light-heartedness.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ Boy extreme expressions

Image
This is over the top, but I tried to do a silly expression when rotoscoping, I need to do body acting for the characters, which I’ll do tomorrow.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ little girl rigging

Image
This is the rigging for the little girl. I did what I said, doing enough for the boy so I can easily import it for the girl. They have different heights (20cm difference), so I had to adjust slightly, but it all worked out in the end.

Minor ‘Change is always bad?’ boy rigging

Image
For the Major, I want to improve my rigging, but I made it just to the point where I can move the characters generically. The only thing that can really save the rigging is the animation performances.
